Wendy is originally from Monterey, Nuevo Leon Mexico. She grew up on her family's farm where she learned, from a young age, how to raise chickens and grow a wide variety staple crops, including maize and beans. Wendy enjoyed life on the farm and understands the importance of being connected to the food you eat. As a Community Connector, Wendy helps address food security in Faribault by overseeing the Canon River Mobile Home Park (CRMHP) Neighborhood Garden, assisting families in the planning and implementation of backyard gardens, and helping coordinate distributions of culturally appropriate foods in partnership with the Food Shelf and other local partners.

I enjoy being a Community Connector because I've always wanted to be in a position where I could help others in my community grow their own organic foods. Through this job, I'm also learning new ways of farming and what opportunities there are.
