Antonio Alba Meraz

Bilingual Program Director

Antonio has extensive experience in plant health from his many years as a field agronomist in Mexico. While in Mexico, he supported dozens of farmers across the country in developing pest management protocols for their crops - from apple orchards to potato farms. After moving to Minnesota, he received a Master's Degree in Biology and worked as an Extension Educator at the University of Minnesota where he taught financial capability to immigrants and refugees. Antonio retired from the U of M in 2021  and joined the Sharing Our Roots team as the new Bilingual Program Director. In his role as Program Director, Antonio oversees our Community Land Share, Community Connector and Neighborhood Garden initiatives.

What Antonio Enjoys About Sharing Our Roots

I am proud to be at a point in my career where I am ready to share my experience at Sharing our Roots and continue with my passion: working with low income families, immigrants and refugees to help them improve their wellbeing through strong community partnerships, access to land, and grow healthy foods while practicing regenerative agriculture.
