Restoring Soil & Water Health at Main Street Project Research Farm
At the Main Street Project Research Farm and farms like it the land has been drained and tilled for over 100 years. Combine that with chemical applications and we have ourselves a problem, a problem that can be seen as far as dead zones in the gulf of Mexico. Our industrial agriculture mindset has led to toxic water and soil depleted of life. As we redesign our farm for a perennial future we are shaping the land in ways that it can begin to restore it’s health and the health of the surrounding ecosystems. Perennial agriculture gives us hope and the future of farming depends on crops that can feed the people and clean water and restore soil health.
