Antonio Alba Meraz

Community Connectors Team

Community Connector Program Director (he/him)

Antonio has extensive experience in plant health from his many years as a field agronomist in Mexico. While in Mexico, he supported dozens of farmers across the country in developing pest management protocols for their crops - from apple orchards to potato farms. After moving to Minnesota, he received a Master's Degree in Biology and worked as an Extension Educator at the University of Minnesota where he taught financial capability to immigrants and refugees.

Antonio retired from the U of M in 2021 and joined the Sharing Our Roots team as our Programs Director. Antonio oversees our Community Connector initiative. He also conducts insect surveys at the Sharing Our Roots Farm as part of our broader wildlife monitoring program, WildlifeCounts.
