Geoff Bynum
Natural Lands Intern (he/him)
Geoff is a rising senior at Carleton, majoring in Environmental Studies – with particular passion for biomes and how wildlife interact with the environment around them. He’s also a birder who likes spotting cowbirds and learning about their brood parasitism. His interest in Sharing Our Roots’ land management practices comes from seeing the conversion of farmland to natural lands back east in Pennsylvania – often as a bequest of families/farmers.
At Sharing Our Roots, his day-to-day is all about ecological restoration: he weed whips invasive species most mornings, collects seeds of native plants to save for the fall planting season come afternoon, and helps with wildlife or communications if there’s any time leftover.
Favorite plant: Sugar maple (for their sap and beautiful fall leaves 🍁)
Least favorite plant: Wild parsnips (which cause skin irritation 🧼)
