JOEM Farm
JOEM Farm is operated by Emily and Josh Negitch who live in Northfield with their children. Both Josh and Emily grew up in farming families in Kericho, Kenya. After moving to the U.S. they got involved with agriculture again through Kilimo Minnesota, an organic incubator farm with a mission to empower emerging farmers of African descent, socially and economically through mentorship, farmland access navigation, education, and community building.
Emily and Josh decided to pursue farming because they find joy in being outdoors and growing fresh, healthy food for their community. Using organic practices, they grow ¼ acre of annual vegetables, corn, beans, and winter squash.
They live nearby, so farming at Sharing Our Roots provides a convenient, supportive environment with the infrastructure needed for them to start their farming operation. In the future, they hope to own their own farm with a greenhouse and space to grow corn and beans.
